The Best TikTok Downloaders in 2026, Compared
Every TikTok downloader makes the same three promises: no watermark, HD, free. In 2026, most of them keep at most two. We tested the big names on the things that actually differ — download caps and paywalls, ad pressure, slideshow support, and whether 'no watermark' still means what it says.
Full disclosure: TikSave is our tool, and it's in the table. The claims about competitors below are testable in two minutes each — links, prices and behaviors as of September 2026.
| Downloader | Really free? | No watermark | MP3 | Slideshows | Ad pressure | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TikSave | Yes — no cap, no login | Yes, source file | Yes | Yes, full resolution | None | What this table exists to prove — test it yourself |
| SnapTik | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Heavy — header bidding, interstitials | The reliable veteran, if you can stand the ads |
| SSSTik | 2–3 saves, then $9.99/week | Yes | Yes | Partial | Heavy + paywall prompts | Fine until the paywall — which is quick |
| TikMate (tikmate.online) | — | — | — | — | Parked domain, redirect ads only | Dead. The site is a parking page now — avoid |
| TikTok's Save button | Yes | No — watermark burned in | No | No | None | OK for casual saves when the button exists |
What happened to TikMate?
tikmate.online — for years one of the most-searched downloader names — no longer hosts a downloader at all. The domain now serves a parking script that fingerprints your browser and redirects to ad networks. If you have it bookmarked, unbookmark it; anything it redirects you to install is not a TikTok downloader.
Its sibling tikmate.app still works as a basic single-language downloader, but development has clearly stopped.
SSSTik's paywall, measured
SSSTik popularized the clean one-box downloader, and it still works well — for the first two or three downloads. Then a subscription prompt appears: $9.99 per week at time of writing. Weekly pricing on a downloader is aggressive (that's over $500 a year), and it's the main reason people search for alternatives.
If you download a video occasionally, SSSTik's free tier may never bother you. If you save more than a few a day — creators archiving references, social media managers — the wall arrives fast.
SnapTik: still the benchmark, still ad-heavy
SnapTik remains the most complete of the veterans: slideshows, stories, Douyin, MP3, 23 languages. Its weakness is monetization pressure — layered ad tech and interstitial prompts between you and the file. The downloads themselves are solid.
Our honest take: if TikSave didn't exist we'd point you to SnapTik and an ad blocker.
How to test any downloader in two minutes
Paste a slideshow link — half of all downloaders fail photo posts. Paste a fresh story link. Count the clicks between Download and the actual file (each extra click is usually an ad). Then download the same video five times: a cap or paywall will announce itself by the fifth.
Whatever tool passes your test — use that one. That's the whole methodology this page is built on.
